2. Enrollment Waitlists for Grades 3 through 10!
We are full for grades 3-10 but still have some space left for rising K-2. If you know of an awesome family in the process of (or considering) applying, please encourage them to move expeditiously! Remember, our enrollment goal for the coming school year is 84 students and we currently have a total of 72 enrolled and paid students. Applications for all grades K-10 are still being accepted, just note that you may be placed on a waitlist.
3. World Robot Olympiad!
Sign-ups are open! ! 21st Century STEM Academy is hosting the regional competition for the World Robot Olympiad on July 29, 2017, with winners invited to compete in the national tournament at North Carolina State University in September for the right to represent the U.S.A. at the world competition in Costa Rica. The competition will involve six weeks of preparation 1-2 hours a week, followed by the actual competition. 4. Meet-and-Greet Dates for Enrolled Families
For those families that are enrolled for the 2017-2018 school year, we will hold a meet-and-greet for all students, families, and our teaching staff. The dates are:Thursday, May 25th from 5-7pm and Monday, June 12th from 5-7pm. Please RSVP to one of those dates if you would like to meet some other students’ families and our teachers. We have divided the hours as follows: 5-6pm (rising Grades K-4) and 6-7pm (rising Grades 5-10).
5. Other Announcements
Our lead STEM teacher Pam Liu has been selected from applicants from across the nation for a scholarship to the 2017 LiftOff Summer Institute to be held at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This aerospace workshop sponsored by NASA's Texas Space Grant Consortium selects teachers from across the U.S. who will increase their knowledge of space education through the LiftOff Professional Development Summer Institute. Teachers apply for LiftOff and are selected competitively. The theme for LiftOff 2017 is Starry Night! and will features presentations by NASA scientists and engineers, hands-on, inquiry based classroom activities aligned to educational standards, career exploration, and unique opportunity to interact with researchers dedicated to space missions.
